PCChips M575 motherboard AMI BIOS Release 04/02/1999 S, tag 001_10_M575
with patch A.1 for AMD K6-2+ and K6-III+ support.

At this moment, the latest BIOS upgrade from PCChips for this boards is the
version 990402S. This BIOS does not support the (mobile) K6-2+/III+ CPUs.
To overcome this problem, I have patched the 990402S BIOS to include proper
recognition and handling of the K6-2+/III+.
This change works by letting the K6plus be recognized as a K6-3. In this way,
the K6plus will be setup correctly including the on-die L2 cache and the
Write-Allocation and Write-Combining features.
Both the K6-2+ and K6-III+ will now be indicated as an "AMD-K6(tm)-3", but
this is just cosmetic.

For all other functions, the patched BIOS is identical to the original BIOS,
so you don't have to clear the CMOS if you upgrade from the 990402S BIOS.

The filename of the patched BIOS is 990402A1.ROM and you can flash it with
the AMI flash program you normally use to flash an M575 BIOS upgrade.
Please take the usual precautions when flashing your BIOS.
Refer to PCChips's web-site at
http://www.pcchips.com.tw/BIOS.html
for the AMI Flash Rom Update Utility.

Note that, although this patched BIOS has been tested on different M575 systems
without any problems, it is provided "as is" and you use it at your own risk.

I like to thank everybody who participated in testing this BIOS and
especially Ales Makarov for showing me how to patch an AMI BIOS.
Jan.
