EXTENSIVE DESCRIPTION

Have you ever wondered while learning a foreign language, whether you couldn't
get all those words into your head faster? Perhaps you often learn all words in
the same order, or you've noticed that you already know certain words, but you
still study them again and again because you don't know other words well enough
yet.

With a computer you can do that faster and more efficiently and Vocatude can
help you with it. It's easy: you enter the words, you set a couple of them for a
test and you can start. You can't learn a language with Vocatude, but it can
help you building vocabulary.

You can choose from a test with open questions or with multiple choice
questions. The former is comparable with a pile of cards that have a word on one
side and the translation on the other side. Each time you take a card and you
think of the translation. Then you look on the back to check if you were right.
When you know a word, you put the card aside and you go on until you know all
cards.

A computer offers more possibilities however. You can set what words you want to
learn and in what direction: from the foreign language to your own or the other
way round or both. Vocatude also computes how well you know a word. You can
decide for yourself how often a word should be asked until you know it well
enough. Finally you can take an exam with the words you've practised.

Besides the words and their meanings, you can also put other information in a
word list: a context in which the word can occur, the part of speech, the lesson
in which the word occurs and the pronunciation. You can also use that
information to start special tests, like a listening test, or a test with verbs
only. The lesson and part of speech are also used to make the answers of a
multiple choice question fit together as much as possible.
