        Every effort has been taken to make M E D I C A L T E R M I
N O L O G Y as user friendly as possible. At the bottom of
each screen will be a prompt listing the possible choices for
further processing. Many prompts will have the first letter of
an action word enclosed in parenthesis. For example:

                      " (C)ontinue or (R)eturn to Menu "

On these type prompts, the computer will accept the letter
responses that are enclosed in parenthesis or their lower case
equals. A response of "C" or "c" will continue with the
present processing. A response of "R" or "r" will return
control to the most previous menu.

Closely following prompts will insure clear sailing throughout
the entire program. No instant escape was built into the
program. However, only one keystroke is required to end the
program from the main menu. Two keystrokes are required from a
subordinate menu and three keystrokes are required from most
        processing screens.

The Tutorial is set up in six units. They are as follows:

                   1. UNIT 1: Word Elements
                   2. UNIT 2: Combining Word Elements
                   3. UNIT 3: Word Variations
                   4. UNIT 4: List of Word Elements
                   5. UNIT 5: Formulating Medical Terms
                   6. UNIT 6: Surgical Procedures

Units are listed in a logical sequence to further enhance
learning. Each unit builds on information learned in previous
units. For people who are new to medical terminology, I
suggest starting with UNIT 1 and working through the units in
sequential order. However, the option is available to begin
        with any unit desired.

At the conclusion of each unit an opportunity to take a unit
test pertaining to that particular unit will exist. Exercising
this option will insure proper evaluation of progress in each
unit. At the end of UNIT 6, there is an option to take a
comprehensive test. Scoring 85 percentile or better on this
test will demonstrate ample mastery of the terms covered in
        this program.

If you are already a medical professional or advanced medical
student, you may want to forego the tutorial with the TEST
MODULE. By taking the tests first, you can make an educated
decision as to whether you need to spend your time with the
        tutorial.

In all units, the principle accent of a word or term is written
in capital letters. (For example; DOCtor.) Division between
the syllables of a word is indicated by a slash (/). (For
        example; gas/TRI/tis.)

Concentrate on the pronunciation of the words and terms as they
are covered. Also, try to determine the meaning of the words
as they are formulated by their different parts.

                          MOST IMPORTANTLY, HAVE FUN!
