WordPerfect 5.1 for DOS VESA driver
  ===================================

 License:

This software is provided "AS IS" without a warranty of any kind.
If it works for you, great. If not, sorry, you've been warned.

 Requirements:

  - WordPerfect 5.1 or 5.1+ for DOS; May work with DrawPerfect as well
  - Graphics card supporting VESA BIOS Extensions (with support either
built in or provided by a TSR or utility such as SciTech Display
Doctor) and resolutions of 640x480 in 256 colors or higher

 Installation:

 1. Copy the enclosed driver file VESA.VRS into your WordPerfect 5.1
program directory (which is by default C:\WP51).

 2. Go to the WordPerfect Graphics Screen Driver setup menu. This is
    accomplished by pressing Shift-F1, 2, 2.

 3. Choose "VESA Compatible" from the list. If the choice isn't present,
please check that the file VESA.VRS is in your WordPerfect program
    directory.

 4. Choose desired resolution from the list. Please keep in mind that
your graphics card and/or monitor may not support particular resolution.

 5. Exit back to WordPerfect (F7). From now on WordPerfect should be using
the VESA driver whenever it displays a graphics screen such as the print
preview, equation editor or image editor. If you get an error message
from WordPerfect, your system may not support VESA BIOS Extensions and/or
    the particular resolution.

 Limitations:

 - Due to the way WordPerfect graphics drivers are structured, the driver
cannot detect beforehand which resolutions are available and if VESA
BIOS Extensions (VBE) are present at all. If VBE and/or desired resolution
is unavilable, the driver will return an error code to WordPerfect when
a graphics screen is about to be displayed. This will result in WordPerfect
displaying the following message: "ERROR: Invalid graphics driver".

 - Because the driver cannot use acceleration features of graphics cards, it
is relatively slow. If you find the performance unacceptable, switch to
a lower resolution. At the resolution of 1280x1024 the computer must
manipulate over four times as much data as when running at resolution of
640x480, resulting in at least four times slower performance.

 Support

Since you're getting this for free, there is no formal support. Informal
support may or may not be provided if you e-mail <michaln@scitechsoft.com>.
