Ok, this archive presents Elliott Winslow's Chessview program. Elliott
describes this program as shareware, and you can register for $35.00.
When you enter the program, be sure to type H after choosing the file
you wish to look at; this will give you a list of commands. Also enclosed
is a BogoIndian ASCII text file you can use for practice and a tutorial
text demo.

This program is probably the *BEST* way to view ASCII text files. It is
reasonably well behaved, although it can have a bug or three. But hey!
it's shareware, and unless you pay for it, I can't see how you can have
any gripes with the author.

I give it my highest personal recommendations. This is what shareware
is all about: simple, functional code that does a very useful task.
Moreover, you can give a copy to your chess-playing friends without
feeling that you've cheated anybody.

Just to get a feel for what this can do, load the tutorial:

chv tut

Neat Tricks Dept: CHV can move you from itself into any editor that
is an emulator of the UNIX vi editor with the ALT-E command. There
are a number of these available in the MS-DOS world, but the one I
recommend is VIM127X.ZIP. Rename VIM.EXE to VI.EXE and move it into
your CHV directory. What does this combination give you?

A *FREE* (i.e. shareware) means to both look at and edit chess files!!

Elliott wishes to note that his address has changed to 66H Barklay Plaza
and his zip is 12553 now and that his current email (Internet) address is

ekw@panix.com. (true as of Sept 4, 1993)

You should be able to reach him through any Fidonet BBS if you don't have
an Internet port. Talk to your local sysop.
