Magdemo is a program which allows you to get a feel for how ACE
Technology's Magnify! works. The actual Magnify program (NOT included
in this archive) is a resident program (TSR) for the HP 100/200LX palmtop
which allows you to pop-up a window which expands the underlying
pixels by 2X, 3X or 4X.

Magdemo allows you to see how this works over a screen snapshot of
the 100/200LX Phone Book application. To try Magdemo transfer the file
MAGDEMO.COM to your 100/200LX. Then go to the DOS prompt on the 100/200LX
and type the command MAGDEMO. Magdemo can run in 60 Kbytes of memory (the
actual Magnify TSR uses 8-13 Kbytes) and only runs on a 100/200LX. You
can not run Magdemo on a conventional PC. Magdemo presents a few
introductory screens and then switches to the demonstration. At any
of the "Press any key..." prompts you can press Ctrl-C to exit the
program.

Here is the complete text that Magdemo displays:

   Magnify! Interactive Demonstration V1.00

Magnify is a small resident program (TSR) for the
HP 100/200LX palmtop which is designed to operate when
the 100/200LX is in 640*200 graphics mode, typically
when SysMgr is active. When its hot-key is pressed
a window pops-up which magnifies the pixels under-
neath it by 1, 2, 3 or 4 times. When the window is
closed Magnify remembers the size and position of
the "lens" and associates it with the current
screen. So the lens can automatically pop-up in a
different position for Appt, the list view in
Phone or the card view in Phone for example.

In addition Magnify will detect the list view in
Phone, Database or Note Taker and automatically
move the lens vertically to the highlighted line
while maintaining the remembered horizontal
position.

On each of the four sides of the lens you will see
"sliders" that indicate the actual area of the
screen being magnified. Normally these are centered
on the lens's edge. But when the lens bumps into
the edge of the screen it can no longer stay
centered over the area being magnified. The sliders
are redundant and not present in the 1x view. The
1x view is provided for quick positioning of the
lens.

While the lens is displayed Magnify responds to
these keys:

  Enter or Esc: exit
  Slash (/): invert the image
Asterisk (*): toggle 1x and current magnification
  Minus (-): decrease magnification
  Plus (+): increase magnification

Navigation keys:
  Cursor keys move lens.
  Shift-cursor fine tunes position
  Ctrl-cursor changes size
1-9: moves to corresponding location on screen
F1-F10: moves horizontally to corresponding position

In a Phone, Database or Note Taker list view:
Tab: right to next column with wrap-around
Shift-Tab or backspace: left to previous column
Equal (=): jump to highlighted line
Period (.): align lens with current line
