FIXNOTE will fix a problem with printing from Notetaker
on the HP100LX. You won't need this program if you have
an HP200LX, or if you don't print notes on your 100LX.

The problem is that the page length, top and bottom
margins and printer escape strings are not correctly
saved from the printer settings dialog. You will have
to set them every time you want to print, or you will
get nonensical results.

The problem is the file C:\_DAT\NOTE.ENV gets corrupted
when saving. The solution is to use a separate program,
FIXNOTE, to correctly set up this file. Do NOT use the
'Setup ...' button in the Notetakers print dialog at all.

To use FIXNOTE, copy both FIXNOTE.EXE and FIXNOTE.CFG
(this is important, do not separate the two) to a
directory on your HP100LX, and run FIXNOTE. It will
present you with the same settings dialog as the built-in
dialog (in addition, you can specify the default file
that should be loaded into Notetaker when it starts).

FIXNOTE when then create a correct NOTE.ENV file in
C:\_DAT. Printing from Notetaker should now work.
FIXNOTE will also save your settings to FIXNOTE.CFG.
It does not rely on the NOTE.ENV file since that may
again have been corrupted by usign the setup dialog in
Notetaker - avoid doing that, of course.

NOTE.ENV should have a size of 168 bytes or less. If it
has 169 bytes, you're got a corrupted version.

Thanks to Holger Michelmann for reporting this bug in
the German HPHAND section.

FIXNOTE was created using the PAL library - thanks PALs !
