Notes on running NYET on the HP 100LX or 200LX palmtop

Path Issues

Nyet will create a history file (nyet.his) in your current directory
so you may want to have nyet always start in the same directory.

Video Issues

NYET must be run in the 80x25 screen mode and looks best if run in mono.
Start NYET in the mono mode with the command "nyet mono". The mono mode
was added to nyet at version 1.2.

Upon starting, if the startup message does not fit the screen, you need
to change the font size by holding down the Fn key and pressing the space
bar until the entire message can be seen.

The display is improved by selecting an optimal video mode. To do this,
hold down the ON key and press the asterisk (*) key.

If desired, you can adjust the screen contrast by holding down the ON key
and pressing the plus or minus key to make the screen darker or brighter.

You can do all of this setup before selecting the starting level.

I am unsuccessful in my attempts to programatically force the palmtop into
  the optimal video mode.

Sample batch file

I load the nyet program into the C:\nyet directory and use a batch file to
control the path and start the program in mono mode. The advantages of
  using a bat file include:
    - Nyet can be started in mono mode from the filer (if DOS is not active)
    - If the bat file is in your path, you can start nyet from any directory
    - You don't have to remember to specify mono mode.

I have included my batch file as snyet.bat. Rename it as you like.

Installing into the Application Manager

This program can be added to the application manager and started from
the "More Applications" screen, as long as DOS is not active. You can
use the following answers when adding the application, or you may
specify the batch file as the path.

     Name: Nyet (or as desired)
     Path: C:\nyet\nyet.exe mono
Comments: <Inverted ?> (Optional. Enter as Fn-?)
Icon: Choose a default (or create your own nyet.icn)
