STKCHART.EXE is a program that will do the following:

         1. Read keyboard input of stock data.
         2. Read captured disk files of COMPUSERVE stock data.
         3. Produce a data base of the above stock data.
         4. Maintain up to 255 days data of each stock.
         5. Maintain up to 30 stocks in each data base.
         6. Produce graphs from the above data.

STKCHART.PAS was written and compiled with Turbo Pascal Version 5.0 on
a Heath Supersport286 with 1 floppy drive. It also has run on a
HeathKit HZ-150 with 256 K memory. Both systems have ramdisk
capability in addition to this which is recommended but not absolutely
necessary.

Some of the Demonstration stock in this package uses H & R Block
(HRB). H & R Block is used because Compuserve will let you download
this data with no extra surcharge.

Experiment with the program it's very easy to use. The menu is
usually shown at the bottom of the screen. There are several menu's
and a flashing identification just below the menu signals which menu
you are looking at. To get to the previous menu just Press F10 or
Esc.

To experiment with some test data, do the following:

         1. Load program, type STKCHART <RETURN>.
         2. After logo loads press <RETURN>.
         3. Press F6 (start new database).

Follow the instructions. Enter the name for the file, such as
TESTFILE. Then the name for the file, maybe OIL STOCKS OVER $20.
Answer the rest of the Questions. When finished the Main Menu
returns.

                1. Press F3 (to Records menu)
                2. Press F9 (add a stock)
                        a. To experiment use HRB
                        b. Exchange = N
                        c. Name = H & R Block.
                3. Press F10 or Esc (back to main menu)
                4. Press F6 (to enter data)
                5. Press F4 (read Compuserve file)
                6. Type HRBHIST.LOG <RETURN>
(File HRBHIST.LOG included in this package)
                7. Press F10 or Esc (back to main menu)
                8. Press F5 (graphs menu)
                9. Press F4 (display one graph)
                10. Type HRB <RETURN>
                11. After viewing the graph <RETURN>

Just remember, when you are experimenting, that to put data in for a
stock, you must first add that symbol to the data base by going to the
records menu and adding the symbol to the data base. When you are
reading Compuserve data files, symbols that are not in the current
active database will be ignored. This means that you can download all
the stocks you are watching into one file from Compuserve, then read
it over and over again into all the different category of data base
files you are keeping.

To see several stocks in an example database, go to the main menu,
Press F10 or Esc, and Press F4 (data base menu). Now Press F4 again
to load new data base. When asked to input Compuserve file name, type
MISCSTOK.SDF (supplied with this package). Now experiment with the
files. Go to the Main Menu and try different things.

Now go to Records menu, Press F3, and add all 30 or as many Dow Jones
Industrial stocks as you wish. Then read in the file named
CIS1DAY.LOG each stock will be updated one day. This is the first
day entered so the graph routines will not work. They need 2 or more
days of data to process. Update some manually to experiment or test a
download from Compuserve.

The program will read all Compuserve Historical Stock/Fund Pricing
formats, and also current pricing format.

When you download from Compuserve be sure you have paged output turned
off, because the extra characters in the file will confuse STKCHART.
