 Setup/Diagnostic program
ͼ

SETUP.EXE is the setup and diagnostic program for the IN-220P famliy ethernet
cards. It allows you not only to test the state of the Ethernet cards, but
 also the cable connections.

To run the program, insert the IN-220P Series driver program diskette #1 in a
disk drive and execute one of the following commands:

   SETUP
   SETUP /F

Run the setup program with the /F switch (SETUP /F) only if the card's EEPROM
data has been corrupted or if you experience any other difficulty when
running the program without the /F switch.

You can also configure the card in non-interactive mode by using the /D
switch (SETUP /D). The SETUP program will automatically read the text file
SETUP.DAT located in the same directory. The following is an example:

Connector Type UTP --------> Setting media type.
   I/O Base Address     0x300   --------> Set I/O base address
Interrupt Number 5 --------> Set Interrupt number
PNP Enable --------> Enable PnP function

 Note:
   1. The 'Enable/Disable PnP function' is used only with IN220P Series.
   2. Setup will only change the setting that appears in SETUP.DAT, and other
      setting will not be changed.
   3. If any setting about boot ROM (ROM Size or ROM Address) appeared,
boot ROM will be set to 'Enable'. Otherwise it will set to 'Disable'.
   4. If connector type is not configured, the driver will automatically
      detect the active media connector.

Program auto-configure your IN-220P Series Ethernet card.
Such as connector type, I/O base address, interrupt number,
            and remote boot function.
            * Not support in IN220P Series.
      Setup Configuration
In this section numerous parameters must be specified manually
            (connector type, I/O, IRQ etc.)
      Adapter Basic Diagnostics
Check the card components and cabling for proper operation.
      Network Diagnostic
This section of setup provides advanced diagnostics using one
master and several slave stations for testing the network.

3. SETUP lets you configure the hardware settings of IN-220P Series Ethernet
card. You have the following options to view/change:

Detailed Description of IN220P Setup Programs
ͼ

The following is the setup program's main menu:

              Main Menu ͻ
          Auto Setting Configuration
          Setup Configuration
          Adapter Basic Diagnostics
          Network Diagnostics
        ͼ

   1. Auto Setting Configuration. Select option for automatic configuration.
The program will automatically select a working configuation for the
adapter. Includes connector type, I/O base address, interrupt number,
      and remote boot function.

   2. Use the Setup Configuration option to manually configure your IN-220P
series card. Here you specify settings for connector type, I/O base
address, interrupt number, and whether or not to enable the remote boot
      function.

   3. The Adapter Basic Diagnostics option checks the major components of the
card and cabling to ensure proper operation.

   4. The Network Diagnostic option performs a live transmission test for
checking the card's network functionality. This test requires that
LSL.COM, IN220P.COM and IPXODI.COM be located in the same directory as
      the setup program.

         Plug and Play -------> Disable
         Remote Boot ---------> Disable

   1. The Connector Type setting lets you specify the connector to be
used with your IN-220P series card.

   2. The I/O Base Address setting lets you specify the address
through which your microprocessor communicates with your card.

   3. The Interrupt Number or IRQ setting is used by your card to
make a request for service from the microprocessor.

   4. The Plug and Play setting only appears is using IN220P Series.
It allows you to enable/disable the plug and play function of
      your card.

   5. The Remote Boot setting allows you to use the remote boot
      function of your card.

      * To use the remote boot function, a boot ROM must be
        installed on the card.

   6. The Boot ROM Address setting indicates the starting memory
address for the boot ROM. (When Boot ROM is enabled)

   7. The Boot ROM Size setting indicates the memory size for the
boot ROM. (When Boot ROM is enabled)

ADAPTER BASIC DIAGNOSTICS
-------------------------

The Adapter Basic Diagnostic option lets you run a test for
checking your IN-220P Series Ethernet card.

   The following items are tested:

The Network Diagnostic must have one master station. If you want to
use this workstation as a master, choose "Setup as a master station".
The other station must act as a slave station. To use this workstation
as a slave, select "Setup as a slave station".

Before running this network diagnostic, copy LSL.COM, IPXODI.COM,
IN220P.COM, and NET.CFG to the same directory as the setup program.
Slave and Master workstations must have the same frame type as
   specified in net.cfg.
