respective horsepower, qualifying and driving skill levels
 * estimates qualifying & race laps for each driver based on current setup
 * estimates grid & finish positions
 * allows change of player car hp up to 1472hp (scary!)
 * allows edit of each team's car engine power up to 1430hp (faaast!)
 * allows change of 256 skills for each driver
 * saves any changes to horsepower and skill levels directly to gp.exe
 * saves & gets settings for up to 100 setup profiles
 * all this information in one whole screen that lets you set up your
racing competition with a real and distinct personality!

Before running:
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
GPHP only writes to your gp.exe file.
Always keep a backup copy of gp.exe in a safe place!

F1GP game setup:
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
To make team horsepower and driver's qualifying & racing skills changes
become effective, start F1GP and choose the following settings in the
   Game Options Menu, Race section:

                     Opposition Standard: Ace
                     Opposition Spread: 1991 Levels

Place gphp.exe and any optional gp*.sav files in F1GP directory and run.
Will only work on version 1.05 of MicroProse's F1GP. Runs best on DOS 6.x

If GPHP finds gp.exe v1.05, it will display the settings currently stored
in the game. Depending on the latest names file it finds, your screen
should then look something like this:

   Apologies for the crowded screen.
Displaying all this information on one screen all at once allows the
overall setup of the game, the whole picture to be seen at a glance.

GPHP options:
^^^^^^^^^^^^
[N] Cycles through any additional [N]ames list in \gpsaves subdirectory, such
as the 1998 season teams & drivers file list provided (names-98.lst).
Does this in chronological order, from latest to earliest.
If no names list is found, original names stored in gp.exe are displayed.

[P] If F1GP [P]assword protection is detected, this gives you the option
to [R]emove it. This appears on the upper right side of the screen.

[F1] Hitting function key F1 gets you to an on-line quick help screen.
Press any key to get back to the main screen.

 [H] Allows input of player(s) car [H]orsepower from 0.1 to 1472hp.
The % figure shown is a percentage of the normal (716) horsepower.
Weird quirk: hp above 1461hp may cause your car to run backwards!

 [T] Edits each [T]eam car's horsepower from 184 to 1430hp.
184hp is the bottom limit for team cars in F1GP - cars will not run
any slower, even if other team editors offer lower limits.
Since gear ratios remain the same in team cars, anything above 900hp
makes cars accelerate like a rocket, but their top speed may not differ
that much from lesser powered cars.
Above 1430hp does not work reliably and may cause cars to run dead slow.

[S] Changes each driver's qualifying and racing cornering [S]kills,
from 1 (ace) to 256 (absolutely pathetic cornering).
Each skill point above 1 slows car driver by about 0.1 sec a lap,
      depending on the circuit.

[S] Option to save current settings to gp.exe appears only if any
horsepower or skills new inputs are different.
[S] or [Y] will save your new setup; [Esc] or [N] will ignore changes
and go back to displaying the previous setup.

[L] Toggles display of estimated qualifying [L]ap penalty, grid position,
race lap penalty and estimated race finish position in that order.
Qualifying & racing lap estimates are derived from a complex formula,
and are based on a normal 1:34.7 lap at Suzuka.

         Examples:
                            driver lap Suzuka
team hp skills penalty real lap

                   184hp 256 65.2 sec 3:30.06 (slowest)
                   184hp 1 39.7 " 2:04.57
                   300hp 1 26.7 " 1:51.58
                   702hp 1 9.8 " 1:34.7 (normal)
                  1430hp 45 4.5 " 1:29.36
                  1430hp 1 0 " 1:24.86 (fastest)

[G] [G]ets previously saved settings from up to 100 setups (gp*.sav)
and automatically saves this to gp.exe.
Does this in chronological order, from latest to earliest setup file.
Included are the original settings found in gp.exe (gp-orig.sav).
If you have saved a lot of setup profiles, and you have cycled past
the setup you wanted, rather than cycle through the rest of the
remaining files, pressing [1] will always get you back to the
      first (i.e. latest) gp*.sav file.

 [W] [W]rites current settings to one of 101 files (gp-00.sav to gp-100.sav).
If you rename these files, make sure the first two letters are "gp",
and the file extension is ".sav"

 [C] Runs optional team [C]olour editor if f1ed.exe, f1ed.dta & svga256.bgi
are present in F1GP directory, and a names list exists in \gpsaves dir.
Mouse click on W to save, on X to exit f1ed.exe. No mouse? Bad luck...

[Esc] Exits gphp editor and back to your OS.
